Softball Preview: Davis Sr. Blue Devils vs. Whitney Wildcats
Davis Sr. is 0-3 against Whitney since May of 2024 but things could change on Friday. The Blue Devils will head out on the road to challenge the Wildcats at 4:00 p.m.
On Wednesday, Davis Sr. came up short against Granite Bay and fell 6-3.
Madison Hunter and Sofia Lester did some serious damage despite the final result: Hunter got on base in all four of her plate appearances with one RBI, while Lester went 2-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI. That double was Lester's first of the season.
Meanwhile, Whitney waltzed into their game on Thursday with four straight wins... but they left with five. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 4-2 win over the Huskies. That's two games straight that the Wildcats have won by exactly two runs.
Paige Tamblyn spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on seven hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one walk in four consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Brooklyn Steele was excellent, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one stolen base and one run. The team also got some help courtesy of Rebecca Rau, who went 2-for-3 with one run.
Davis Sr. now has a losing record of 4-5. As for Whitney, their victory bumped their record up to 6-2.
