Softball Recap: Mount Dora Triumphs

Mount Dora's game last Friday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Thursday. They came out on top against the Tavares Bulldogs by a score of 10-6. For the Hurricanes, this counts as revenge for the 9-5 victory the Bulldogs walked away with the last time they faced one another back in April of 2025.

Addison Ganus spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and three unearned) runs on eight hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one walk in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Mount Dora got a massive performance out of Mckynna Hunter, who went 2-for-4 with three stolen bases, one run, and one RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Carly Durden, who got on base in four of her five plate appearances with two runs and one RBI.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Mount Dora kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That's the most hits they've posted since back in March of 2025.

The win got Mount Dora back to even at 2-2. As for Tavares, they are on a six-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-5.

Mount Dora and Tavares will both get their first taste of in-conference action in their upcoming games. The Hurricanes are set to challenge their familiar foe The Villages Charter at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Tavares will face off against rival Leesburg at 6:00 p.m. on Monday.
