Football Recap: Copper Hills Grizzlies vs. Herriman Mustangs
Copper Hills lost against Herriman back in October of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Copper Hills Grizzlies fell 36-25 to the Herriman Mustangs. The defeat continues a trend for the Grizzlies in their matchups with the Mustangs: they've now lost eight in a row.
Several Grizzlies players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Maverick Bowles, who threw for 239 yards and a touchdown, and also rushed for 65 yards on only nine carries. A healthy portion of that aerial production (126 yards to be exact) went to Noah Haroldsen.
A big part of Herriman's win came down to the chemistry between Bryce Benson and his top target Tate Love. Benson threw for 209 yards and three touchdowns while Love picked up 75 receiving yards and two touchdowns. Love got the majority of those receiving yards when he pulled down a pass and took off for a gain of 53 yards.
Copper Hills' loss dropped their record down to 3-6. As for Herriman, their victory ended a five-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 3-6.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Copper Hills will welcome Riverton at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Copper Hills is facing Riverton at the right time seeing as Riverton is stuck on a four-game losing streak. As for Herriman, they will take on Corner Canyon at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Corner Canyon has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 135 points over their last three games.
