Baseball Game Preview: Vacaville Bulldogs vs. Vanden Vikings

Vacaville and Vanden are an even 5-5 against one another since April of 2021, but likely not for long. The Bulldogs will look to defend their home field on Tuesday against the Vikings at 4:00 p.m. The last three games Vacaville has played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.

On Friday, Vacaville needed a bit of extra time to put away Freedom. They won by a run and slipped past the Falcons 3-2. The Bulldogs haven't had any issues with the Falcons recently, as the game was their third consecutive victory against them.

Nolan Collins tossed a big game, keeping things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out six over five innings pitched.

On the hitting side, Vacaville saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jaiden Oldwin, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one triple, one stolen base, and one run. Those three hits gave Oldwin a new career-high.

Meanwhile, Vanden didn't have quite enough to beat Wood on Thursday and fell 3-1.

Vacaville pushed their record up to 15-7 with the win, which was their seventh straight on the road. Those road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Vanden, they have been struggling recently as they've lost eight of their last ten matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-14 record this season.

Vacaville beat Vanden 8-3 in their previous meeting back in April of 2024. Will the Bulldogs repeat their success, or do the Vikings have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
