Basketball Recap: Alamosa Mean Moose vs. Montezuma-Cortez Panthers

Alamosa was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their 13th straight loss. They came up short against the Montezuma-Cortez Panthers, falling 69-48. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Panthers this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 65-45 back in January.

Montezuma-Cortez was led to victory by Trey Hall and Caidin Leonard. Hall posted 14 points along with seven assists and seven boards, while Leonard went 7 for 12 on his way to 18 points in addition to six assists and four steals. The dominant performance gave Hall a new career-high in assists. Another player making a difference was Tay Wheat, who scored nine points and four steals.

Alamosa's defeat dropped their record down to 2-17. As for Montezuma-Cortez, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 14-5 record this season.

Alamosa wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 50-44 victory against Monte Vista on the 11th. As for Montezuma-Cortez, they will square off against Pagosa Springs at 4:00 p.m. on February 15th.
