Pen Argyl hadn't done well against Notre Dame-Green Pond recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Wednesday. The Green Knights won by a run and slipped past the Crusaders 3-2. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Green Knights have posted since April 5, 2024.

Lucas Lerch spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned runs on six hits and racked up 11 Ks.

On the hitting side, Cayden Vishnesky was excellent, going 1-for-3 with one home run and three RBI. That home run was his first of the season. Nick Haros was another key player, scoring a run and stealing two bases while getting on base in two of his three plate appearances.

The victory got Pen Argyl back to even at 5-5-1. As for Notre Dame-Green Pond, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-6 record this season.

We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. Pen Argyl is set to take on their familiar foe Northwestern Lehigh at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. Meanwhile, Notre Dame-Green Pond will challenge rival Salisbury Township at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
