Softball Game Preview: Ocosta Wildcats vs. Toledo Indians

The Ocosta Wildcats will challenge the Toledo Indians at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Toledo will face off against a team with plenty of momentum: Ocosta extended their winning streak to four on Thursday. The Wildcats were the clear victors by a 26-5 margin over Oakville.

Ocosta got a massive performance out of Jolissa Schlegel, who went 1-for-4 with three runs, three RBI, and one stolen base. Another player making a difference was Elly Mirante, who got on base in four of her five plate appearances with three runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Toledo, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Thursday. Everything went their way against Toutle Lake on Monday as they made off with a 12-2 win. The victory continues a trend for the Indians in their matchups with the Ducks: they've now won five in a row.

Toledo pushed their record up to 11-4-2 with the win, which was their sixth straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 16.8 runs over those games. As for Ocosta, their record is now 6-3.

Ocosta might still be hurting after the 14-0 loss they got from Toledo in their previous matchup back in May of 2024. Can the Wildcats avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
