Basketball Recap: Yates Center Takes a Loss

After flying high against Southern Coffey County last Tuesday, Yates Center came back down to earth. The Yates Center Wildcats fell 60-49 to the Marmaton Valley Wildcats on Friday. Yates Center lost against Marmaton Valley in their previous head to head back in February of 2024, too, but the margin this time around was much closer than the 60-25 score last time.

Yates Center's defeat dropped their record down to 3-7. As for Marmaton Valley, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matches, which provided a nice bump to their 6-2 record this season.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Yates Center will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Altoona-Midway at 7:30 p.m. on January 28th. Marmaton Valley will also get a bit of a break before their next game: they'll face off against Chetopa on January 28th.
