Basketball Preview: McEwen Warriors vs. Perry County Vikings
The McEwen Warriors will head out on the road to take on the Perry County Vikings at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.
Last Friday, McEwen came up short against the Rebels and fell 61-53.
Meanwhile, it was a hard-fought game, but Perry County had to settle for a 47-44 loss against the Wildcats on Thursday. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Perry County in their matchups with the Wildcats: they've now lost three in a row.
Despite the loss, Perry County saw an underclassman step up: Colton Pevahouse scored 20 points along with six rebounds. Pevahouse continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. Landon Warren was another key contributor, scoring seven points.
McEwen's defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 13-4. As for Perry County, their defeat was their third straight at home, which dropped their record down to 7-10.
McEwen beat the Vikings 72-60 in their previous meeting back in December of 2023. The rematch might be a little tougher for McEwen since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
