Baseball Recap: Legacy Christian Academy Snags Seventh Win in Last Nine Games

With a playoff win on the line, Legacy Christian Academy rose to the challenge on Friday. They were the clear victors by a 16-5 margin over the Lee Vining Tigers. The Lions might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won ten matches by ten runs or more this season.

Jackson Balden made a big impact no matter where he played. He pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two hits in five consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, one run, and one double. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in March.

In other batting news, Lucas Highfill and Lincoln Brown did most of the damage at the plate: Highfill got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases, three runs, and one triple, while Brown went 2-for-3 with three stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. Legacy Christian Academy is 12-1 when Highfill posts two or more runs, but 5-6-1 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Zakary Altenhofel, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with three stolen bases and one run.

Legacy Christian Academy always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .636. That was just more of the same: they've now posted an OBP of .515 or higher in five consecutive contests.

Legacy Christian Academy has been performing well recently as they've won seven of their last nine games. That's provided a nice bump to their 17-7-1 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.3 runs over those games. As for Lee Vining, with the defeat, they broke their five-game winning streak and moved their record to 6-8.

Looking ahead, Legacy Christian Academy will face off against Minarets at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Lee Vining does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
