Basketball Game Preview: Escalante Moquis vs. Panguitch Bobcats

Escalante hasn't had much luck against Panguitch recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Escalante Moquis will be playing in front of their home fans against the Panguitch Bobcats at 7:00 p.m.

Escalante is headed into the matchup out to prove that what happened against Valley on Wednesday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. Escalante was beaten by Valley 60-23. The Moquis were down 44-19 at the end of the third quarter, and things only got worse from there.

Meanwhile, a well-balanced attack led Panguitch over El Capitan in every quarter on their way to victory on Thursday. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that Panguitch blew El Capitan out of the water with a 60-17 final score. The Bobcats have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won five games by 31 points or more this season.

Escalante better focus on containing Mallory Henrie and Makena Owens as the pair were huge in Panguitch's win. Henrie posted 11 points along with seven rebounds and three steals, while Owens went 5 of 11 en route to 14 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Tayt Miller, who had nine points.

Panguitch has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven contests, which provided a nice bump to their 10-3 record this season. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 33.7 points. As for Escalante, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-6.
