Baseball Recap: Tell City Gets the Win

Tell City lost to Boonville back in April of 2024, but they didn't allow them the same satisfaction on Thursday. The Marksmen narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past the Pioneers 6-4.

Talon Jennings spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered four earned runs on eight hits. He also tossed no walks, which is notable because Tell City is 2-1 when he allows at most two walks, but 3-6 otherwise.

At the plate, Landon Sandage was excellent, going 3-for-4 with one stolen base and one run. That stolen base was his first of the season.

Tell City's win was their first in the conference, bumping their conference record up to 1-5 and their overall record up to 5-7. As for Boonville, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-8 record this season.

Tell City has already played their next contest (against Breckinridge County), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. As for Boonville, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next game, a 5-1 loss against Evansville North on the 5th.
