Softball Recap: Clintonville's Losing Streak Is a Thing of the Past

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Oconto Falls, Clintonville was happy to have turned things around on Tuesday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Marinette Marines, sneaking past 6-4. The victory was some much needed relief for the Truckers as it spelled an end to their four-game losing streak.

Claire Papendorf spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and one unearned) runs on eight hits and racked up seven Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Rainna Miller and Abby Tate did most of the damage at the plate: Miller went 3-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and two doubles, while Tate went 3-for-4 with one home run and three RBI. Those three RBI gave Tate a new career-high.

Clintonville's win bumped their record up to 8-13. As for Marinette, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-12.

We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. Clintonville is set to challenge their familiar foe Little Chute at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Marinette will square off against rival Denmark at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.
