Recap: Morton Grove Academy Crescents vs. Unity Christian Academy Phoenix
The Morton Grove Academy Crescents waltzed into their matchup Friday with seven straight wins but they left with eight. They strolled past Unity Christian Academy with points to spare, taking the game 63-48.
Unity Christian Academy lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Kenyun Mazique, who scored 16 points along with five rebounds and four steals. Mazique continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Shamar Coleman, who scored 11 points.
Unity Christian Academy struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only two offensive rebounds. That's the fewest offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
Morton Grove Academy's victory was their seventh straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 9-3. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 76.9 points per game. As for Unity Christian Academy, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-6.
Morton Grove Academy will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Hinsdale Adventist Academy at 5:00 p.m. on January 8, 2024. Unity Christian Academy will be home for the holidays to greet Portage Christian at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. Portage Christian is still on the hunt for that elusive first 'W'.
