Basketball Recap: Northampton Piles Up the Points Against King & Queen Central

Northampton had to skate by with only a three-point margin when they last took the court, which might have inspired the 39-point drubbing they dealt King & Queen Central on Friday. The Northampton Yellowjackets really took it to the King & Queen Central Royal Tigers for the full four quarters, racking up a 91-52 win. The Yellowjackets haven't had any issues with the Royal Tigers recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive victory against them.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Northampton to victory, but perhaps none more so than Amir Bailey, who almost dropped a double-double with 19 points and nine assists. With that strong performance, Bailey is now averaging an impressive 2.1 steals per game. The team also got some help courtesy of Jaylen Anderson, who went 8-for-14 on his way to 17 points and seven steals.

Northampton smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 21 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive boards in 14 consecutive games.

Several Royal Tigers players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Gerard Hill, who posted 21 points. That was a full 40.4% of King & Queen Central's points, marking the tenth time in a row Hill has put up more than a third of the team's points. Teryn Mosley was another key player, putting up 14 points.

Northampton's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 8-10. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 80.0 points over those games. As for King & Queen Central, they have been struggling recently as they've lost nine of their last 12 matchups, which has put a noticeable dent in their 8-11 record this season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Northampton will challenge Arcadia at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Arcadia will roll in looking for their tenth straight victory, something Northampton surely won't give up without a fight. As for King & Queen Central, they will face off against Middlesex at 7:45 p.m. on Wednesday.
