Basketball Recap: Mitchell County Takes a Loss

Mitchell County was the 55-42 winner over Randolph-Clay when they last played one another back in February, but their luck changed this time around. The Mitchell County Eagles fell just short of the Randolph-Clay Red Devils by a score of 48-45 on Friday. While losing is never fun, the Eagles can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 139th, while the Red Devils are ranked 48th).

Randolph-Clay was led to victory by Tyrion Smith and Jes'Us Daniels. Smith went 6 for 15 on his way to 15 points and eight rebounds, while Daniels dropped a double-double on 15 points and 11 rebounds. The match was Smith's fourth in a row with at least ten points.

Mitchell County's loss dropped their record down to 4-2. As for Randolph-Clay, the win keeps them at an undefeated 8-0.

Mitchell County didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 72-31 victory against Stewart County on the 14th. As for Randolph-Clay, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 50-41 defeat against Early County on the 14th.
