Softball Recap: Jackson Heights' Victory on Saturday Extends Winning Streak to Five

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Jackson Heights). They were the clear victors by a 23-4 margin over the Atchison County Tigers on Saturday. The victory was familiar territory for the Cobras, who have now won five matches in a row.

Brynn Shupe was incredible, going a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, five RBI, and three runs. Those three runs gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Sabrina Streeter, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 4-for-4.

Jackson Heights always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .833. That was just more of the same: they've now posted an OBP of .500 or higher in seven consecutive games.

Jackson Heights now has a winning record of 6-5. As for Atchison County, they are on a 20-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-11.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Jackson Heights will take on rival Pleasant Ridge at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Meanwhile, Atchison County is set to challenge their familiar foe Horton at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
