Basketball Recap: Winslow Takes a Loss

Winslow won a close one the last time they played, but unfortunately they suffered a serious change of fortune on Friday. They lost 68-46 to the Alchesay Falcons. The Bulldogs were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Falcons apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in November of 2023.

Despite the loss, Winslow still got an impressive performance from Jace Smith, who went 5 for 12 en route to 14 points and three steals. Those 14 points gave Smith a new career-high. Isaac David was another key player, putting up 14 points.

Leading Alchesay to victory were Adrian Dosela and Max Antonio. Dosela went 6 of 12 on his way to 16 points, while Antonio went 6 for 8 en route to 14 points and five rebounds. Dosela has been hot recently, having also posted two or more steals the last three times he's played. Another player making a difference was Judah Yazzie, who posted seven points.

Winslow's loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 10-9. As for Alchesay, the win (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 19-7.

Winslow didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 60-51 victory against Show Low on the 28th. As for Alchesay, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 60-56 defeat against Holbrook on the 28th.
