Football Recap: Providence Christian Skates Past Abbeville with Ease

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Providence Christian). They took their game on Friday with ease, bagging a 43-6 win over the Abbeville Yellowjackets. The score at the end of the third wound up being the final score as the Eagles just coasted through the last quarter.

Craig Pittman produced another solid performance throwing for 83 yards and three touchdowns, while also rushing for 44 yards and one score. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in passer rating (177.1). Colson Love was another key player, gaining 76 total yards and a touchdown.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Providence Christian was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 272 rushing yards. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Abbeville only rushed for 49.

Providence Christian's defense stepped up as well, laying out the QB three times. Leading the way was Charlie Cannon with two sacks. He also made eight total tackles, which is notable because Providence Christian is undefeated when he posts at least three total tackles, but 1-2 otherwise.

Providence Christian has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 5-2 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 32.8 points over those games. As for Abbeville, their loss dropped their record down to 2-6.
