Volleyball Recap: West Ranch's Luck Takes a Turn for the Worse on Saturday

It was a good run, but West Ranch unfortunately witnessed the end of their seven-game winning streak on Saturday. They took a 2-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the La Jolla Vikings.

The 2-0 score doesn't really reflect how close the match was: every set was decided by three points or less. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-22, 25-23.

West Ranch's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Stephen Choi, who had 12 assists and two aces, and Jackson Manansala, who had nine assists and four digs. Choi is on a roll when it comes to aces, as he's now served two or more in each of the last four games he's played. Peter Everitt also deserves some recognition as he posted his first assist of the season.

West Ranch's defeat dropped their record down to 14-3. As for La Jolla, the victory got them back to even at 7-7.

West Ranch didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 2-0 win against Hawaii Baptist Academy on the 22nd. As for La Jolla, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next match, a 2-0 loss against Carlsbad on the 22nd.
