League recap: Krum win leads to rise in state rank

3A Region II District 9 recap Oct. 9, 2012

Krum moved up to 300 from 364 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in 3A Region II District 9. The Bobcats were able to make the jump by beating Burkburnett 64-0.

Krum extended the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating the Bulldogs, 64-0. The victory was the sixth in a row for the Bobcats.

Blake Arrington was the best wideout in the league this week as Bridgeport lost to Graham. Arrington racked up three receptions for 43 yards.

Grayson Muehlstein put up the best numbers through the air as Decatur fell to Alvarado. He finished with eight completions for 72 yards. Muehlstein's favorite target this week was Cain Lowe, who caught two passes for 38 yards.

Hunter Gantt was the most productive running back in 3A Region II District 9 this week. He ran for 69 yards on 19 carries as the Bulls lost to the Steers.

6-foot-4 quarterback Muehlstein of the Eagles is the league leader in passing yards this season with 736. He has also thrown nine touchdowns. On the ground, Bridgeport's Gabe Huerta has rushed for 817 yards which leads the league. The leading receiver in the league this season is Arrington. The Bridgeport star has 23 catches for 306 yards.

A big matchup in the league this week will be when Krum takes on the Bulls. The Bobcats are currently in first, while Bridgeport is in sixth.

Krum took down Burkburnett 64-0 last week, the largest margin of any game.
