Basketball Recap: Young Audiences Comes Up Short

It's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 66-33, which was the final score in the Young Audiences Yacs's tilt against the Newman Greenies on Wednesday. While losing is never fun, the Yacs can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Louisiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 335th, while the Greenies are ranked 41st).

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Newman to victory, but perhaps none more so than Randy Livingston Jr, who almost dropped a double-double with 19 points and nine assists. Livingston Jr's evening made it four games in a row in which he has scored at least 19 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Payton Foster, who almost dropped a double-double with 15 points and nine boards.

Young Audiences' defeat dropped their record down to 5-14. As for Newman, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 18-5 record this season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Young Audiences won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Patrick Taylor Science & Tech Academy at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Newman, they will head out on the road to face off against Eleanor McMain at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
