Basketball Game Preview: McCallum Knights vs. Bastrop Bears

McCallum is 0-6 against Bastrop since December of 2014 but things could change on Tuesday. The McCallum Knights will host the Bastrop Bears at 8:00 p.m. McCallum will be strutting in after a victory while Bastrop will be coming in after a defeat.

Last Friday, McCallum didn't have too much trouble with Richards School for Young Women Leaders as they won 48-30. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Knights.

Meanwhile, after a string of six wins, Bastrop's good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They fell to Anderson 61-56.

McCallum will have to keep a close watch on Keyaira Limuel and Navaeh Jones, a pair of players who had a big impact on Bastrop's prior game. Limuel dropped a double-double on 24 points and ten rebounds, while Jones dropped a double-double on ten points and 22 boards. Jones has been hot for a while, having posted nine or more boards the last 16 times she's played. Another player making a difference was Kenadee Lawhon, who posted 12 points and three steals.

Bastrop's loss ended an 11-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 31-4. As for McCallum, they pushed their record up to 11-16 with the win, which was their fourth straight on the road.

McCallum might still be hurting after the 59-37 defeat they got from Bastrop in their previous matchup back in January. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Jones, who dropped a double-double on 20 points and 14 rebounds.
