Recap: Mitchell Mustangs vs. Sunlake Seahawks
It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact the Mitchell Mustangs can now relate to. They received a tough blow on Monday as they fell 60-43 to the Seahawks. Mitchell has struggled against Sunlake recently, as their game on Monday was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.
Mitchell's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Priya Jacob, who scored eight points along with 12 rebounds and two steals. Jacob has been hot recently, having posted ten or more rebounds the last three times she's played. Another player making a difference was Aleyah Hall, who scored 14 points along with six rebounds and three steals.
Mitchell's defeat dropped their record down to 16-10. As for Sunlake, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games, which provided a nice bump to their 12-9 record this season.
Mitchell does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Sunlake will be staying on the road on Wednesday to face off against Springstead at 6:00 p.m. on February 7th. Springstead will roll in looking for their 17th straight victory, something Sunlake surely won't give up without a fight.
