Softball Recap: Lorena Gets the Win

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against China Spring, Lorena was happy to have turned things around on Tuesday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Connally Cadets a 15-0 shutout. The result was nothing new for the Leopards, who have now won ten matchups by seven runs or more so far this season.

Jaylie Werner was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out nine over four innings pitched. Werner was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two runs and one RBI.

In other batting news, Holly Barrett was incredible, going 2-for-4 with one home run and four RBI. That home run was her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Isabella Davis, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with two runs, one double, and one RBI.

Lorena was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .577. The last time their batting average was this high was back in March of 2025.

Lorena's record is now 19-10. As for Connally, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost six of their last eight contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 8-17 record this season.

Lorena will have a chance to go back-to-back against Connally: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
