Basketball Recap: Hobart Comes Up Short

Hobart lost against Valparaiso back in February of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Hobart Brickies were beaten by the Valparaiso Vikings 70-34. The contest marked the Brickies' lowest-scoring matchup so far this season.

Valparaiso was led to victory by Kj Avery and Caden Crowell. Avery went 5 for 7 en route to 14 points along with six rebounds and five assists, while Crowell posted 14 points. What's more, Crowell also racked up four assists, the most he's had since back in January of 2024. Another player making a difference was LaVon Redmond, who put up four points.

Hobart has traveled a rocky road recently having lost 11 of their last 14 games, which has put a noticeable dent in their 7-13 record this season. As for Valparaiso, the win (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 9-12.

Hobart and Valparaiso could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps Indiana Rankings. Hobart will challenge Andrean at 7:00 p.m. on Friday down 158 places (277 vs. 119). Similarly, Valparaiso (ranked 150th) will meet Crown Point (ranked tenth) at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
