The Abington Heights Comets will welcome the Wyoming Valley West Spartans  at 7:00  p.m.  on Friday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Abington Heights has four straight  victories, Wyoming Valley West has five straight  losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
On Friday, Abington Heights blew past Hazleton Area, posting  a  44-14 win. The final result isn't all that surprising considering the Comets' considerable advantage  in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania football rankings (they are ranked 201st, while the Cougars are ranked 472nd).

Abington Heights' victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was   Jayden Anglin, who rushed for 122 yards and one  TD on only 15 carries.  Gavin Anders also helped out with an impressive 90  receiving yards.
 Abington Heights didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The team can thank two different players for their defensive prowess:  Anglin and  Evan Keiper, who each picked up one  interception apiece.
Meanwhile,  Wyoming Valley West played a tough  matchup  on Friday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They took a  blow against Crestwood, falling  49-14. The Spartans were down  42-6 at the end of the third quarter, which was just too much to recover from.
 Abington Heights will have to keep a close watch on  John Richards and  Malique Campbell, a pair of players who had a big impact on Wyoming Valley West's prior game. Richards picked up 111 receiving yards and one  score, while  Campbell rushed for 69 yards and one  touchdown on only eight carries.
 Wyoming Valley West's defeat dropped their record down to 1-9. As for Abington Heights, their record is now 8-2.
 Everything came up roses for Abington Heights against Wyoming Valley West in their previous meeting  back in November of 2024, as the  team secured  a  35-0 win. Will the Comets repeat their success,  or do  the Spartans have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
