Basketball Game Preview: Freeman Falcons vs. Johnson-Brock Eagles

Two dominant guards in Easton Buss and Brody Koehler are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Freeman Falcons will head out to challenge the Johnson-Brock Eagles at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.

Freeman is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Nebraska's top teams: Auburn, who was ranked 18th at the time (Freeman was ranked 21st). The Falcons took a hard 55-36 fall against the Bulldogs on Saturday. The contest marked the Falcons' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Meanwhile, Johnson-Brock had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 32.3 points) and they went ahead and made it four on Saturday. They came out on top against the Bobcats by a score of 61-53. 61 seems to be a good number for the Eagles as the team scooped up a victory with the same number of points in their previous game.

Johnson-Brock's win came from a few key players that Freeman will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Oliver Everrett, who went 5-for-6 to rack up 10 points. He is also on a roll when it comes to shooting accuracy, as he's posted one of at least 71% in the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Deacon Bernadt, who posted 12 points.

Freeman moved to 16-3 with that defeat, which also ended their six-game winning streak. As for Johnson-Brock, their win bumped their record up to 18-3.

Freeman didn't have too much breathing room in their matchup against Johnson-Brock in their previous meeting back in February of 2025, but they still walked away with a 54-48 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Falcons since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
