Wakeland dropped down to 6-2 on Thursday, ending the team's six-game streak of wins. They fell just short of the McKinney Lions by a score of 2-1. The Wolverines were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Lions apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in August of 2023.

Hannah Lee paced Wakeland's offense, picking up 11 kills. Lee got some help from Gillian Dickerson and her 19 assists. Aubree Fernandez controlled things from the service line, finishing with four aces.

As for McKinney, they now have a winning record of 7-6. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory they have posted since September 17, 2024.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead McKinney to victory, but perhaps none more so than Kaylee McReynolds, who had 18 digs and three assists. That's the most digs McReynolds has posted since back in October of 2024.

Wakeland didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 2-0 loss against Hebron on the 21st. As for McKinney, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 2-0 win against Vista Ridge on the 21st.
