Baseball Game Preview: Portola Bulldogs vs. Woodbridge Warriors

Portola hasn't had much luck against Woodbridge recently, but that could start to change on Wednesday. The Bulldogs will square off against the Warriors at 6:00 p.m. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

Portola came up short against Laguna Beach on Friday, falling 10-1. The Bulldogs have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Portola saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Keyan Park, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base and one run.

Meanwhile, Woodbridge fought the good fight in their extra-innings match against St. Margaret's on Friday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Tartans by a score of 4-3.

Kyle Underwood was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he struck out seven batters over six innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off two hits. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two hits in five consecutive appearances.

Woodbridge's loss dropped their record down to 17-9. As for Portola, their defeat dropped their record down to 9-14.

Portola couldn't quite get it done against Woodbridge in their previous matchup back in March of 2024 as they fell 9-4. Can the Bulldogs avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
