Los Padres recap October 29, 2013
Lompoc's A.J. Florez rumbled for the longest rushing play in Los Padres this season in his game against Santa Ynez last week. Florez's team bested the Pirates as he sprinted for 82 yards on the play and finished with 123 in all.
Lompoc added to the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating Santa Ynez, 64-3. The victory was the sixth in a row for the team.
Matt Albright threw for 308 yards and 5 touchdowns. He went 23-39 with 2 interceptions.
Albright put up the best numbers through the air as Nipomo topped Santa Maria. Albright's favorite target this week was Brandon Hettenhouser, who caught 7 passes for 124 yards.
Leading the league in both passing and receiving yards, the Titans' Albright and Hettenhouser have proven to be a lethal combination. 6-2 quarterback Albright has thrown for 1,888 yards this season, while Hettenhouser has 44 catches for 456 yards. Tristan Collins from Morro Bay leads the league in rushing with 1,051 yards.
Entering into this week's contest against the Braves, Albright is short just 112 passing yards to break 2,000 on the season.
Lompoc's Derrick Portis is a mere 59 yards away from breaking the 1,000-rushing-yards mark for the season. In 101 carries Portis has accumulated 941 yard this year.
At the moment, the Braves are in first, while the Titans are in third.
The league will see a high scoring game when Lompoc and Nipomo face off this week. The top two offenses in the league, the Braves comes in having scored 334 this season, while the Titans have scored 248. Lompoc scored 64 points last week as it topped Josh McClurg's team.
The Pirates fell to the Braves 64-3 last week, the largest margin of any game. Austin Vreeland was a bright spot for Santa Ynez, as he ran for 50 yards and caught 2 passes for 76 yards in the loss.
