Basketball Recap: Independence Takes a Loss

If Independence was riding high fresh off their 73-40 takedown of Oberlin last Saturday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Independence Blue Devils were just a bucket shy of victory on Tuesday and fell 74-73 to the Trinity Trojans. The Blue Devils haven't had much luck with the Trojans recently, as the team has come up short the last seven times they've met.

Aidan Duncan continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Trinity, going 9-for-15 on his way to 23 points in addition to seven rebounds and five assists. Those 23 points gave Duncan a new career-high. Jordan Campbell was another key player, putting up 16 points.

Independence's loss dropped their record down to 14-8. As for Trinity, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a massive bump to their 9-11 record this season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Independence will be taking part in a tournament against David Anderson at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Independence's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last four matches. As for Trinity, they will host Fuchs Mizrachi at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
