Lemack Bellot leads a balanced attack to beat Leroy Greene Academy

Even though the Leroy Greene Academy Lions scored an imposing 57 points on Tuesday, the Elite Eagles still came out on top. Elite took down Leroy Greene Academy 72-57. Given Elite's advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 424th, while Leroy Greene Academy is ranked 991st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Elite's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Lemack Bellot, who scored 19 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Bellot has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Maisen McCleod, who scored 17 points.

When it comes to explaining why Leroy Greene Academy lost, one person who can't be blamed is Cobee Wesley. Despite the final result, he scored 26 points along with four steals and two blocks. That's the first time this season that Wesley posted two or more blocks. Another player making a difference was Devin Audrick, who scored nine points along with eight rebounds and two steals.

Elite has been performing well recently as they've won nine of their last 11 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 15-5 record this season. As for Leroy Greene Academy, they have been struggling recently, as they've lost three of their last four matchups, which lines up perfectly with their 4-12 record this season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Elite on the road again on Thursday and play against John Adams Academy at 7:00 p.m. on January 25th. As for Leroy Greene Academy, they will face off against Westlake Charter at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Hopefully Westlake Charter focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 18 on Tuesday.
