Baseball Recap: Lawrence County's Win on Friday Extends Winning Streak to Three

Lawrence County waltzed into their match on Friday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They came out on top against the Deshler Tigers by a score of 8-4. The game was the first time the Red Devils have beaten the Tigers on their field since April 6, 2021.

Parker Frost made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching seven innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off three hits. What's more, he posted five strikeouts, the most he's had since back in February. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing two bases while going 3-for-4.

In other batting news, Wyatt Knight was incredible, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run and three RBI. That's the most hits he has posted since March 3rd. Another player making a difference was Kade Taylor, who went 1-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.

Lawrence County was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .387. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .368 or higher in three consecutive games.

Lawrence County's win bumped their record up to 15-7. As for Deshler, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 15-8.

Coming up, Lawrence County will be taking part in a tournament against Homewood at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. Homewood's pitching crew has only allowed 2.3 runs per game this season, so Lawrence County's hitters will have their work cut out for them. Deshler has already played their next contest (against Piedmont), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
