Softball Recap: Make It Three in a Row for Gwynn Park

Gwynn Park entered their tilt with Largo on Friday with two consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with three. They blew past the Lions 24-3. The result was nothing new for the Yellowjackets, who have now won seven matchups by seven runs or more so far this season.

Breanna Phipps made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out seven batters over three innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs but no hits. Phipps was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with eight stolen bases, four runs, and three RBI. With that strong performance, she is now averaging an impressive 2.2 runs per game.

In other batting news, Kaitlyn Curry was a standout: she went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, five stolen bases, and four runs. That home run marked the first that she has launched this season. Another player making a difference was Chandler Coston, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with seven stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI.

Gwynn Park always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .853. That was just more of the same: they've now posted an OBP of .650 or higher in five consecutive contests.

Gwynn Park's win bumped their record up to 9-2. As for Largo, they are on a nine-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-4.
