Softball Recap: Nordhoff Comes Up Short

Nordhoff extended their losing streak to three on Tuesday, dropping their season record down to 1-7 in the process. They came up short against the Newbury Park Panthers, falling 11-1. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Rangers of the 10-0 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in April of 2024.

As for Newbury Park, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 12-9. Considering they have won nine matches by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

For Newbury Park's part, Veronica Wasserman looked comfortable as she struck out nine batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits (and not a single walk). That's the most strikeouts Wasserman has posted since back in February of 2024.

On the hitting side, Lily Johnson was a standout: she got on base in all four of her plate appearances with one home run, three stolen bases, and three runs. That's the most stolen bases she has posted since back in February. Hanna Porter was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs.

Nordhoff has already played their next game, an 8-4 defeat against Santa Barbara on the 18th. As for Newbury Park, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 10-0 loss against Thousand Oaks on the 17th.
