Softball Game Preview: Evergreen Park Mustangs vs. Saint Ignatius College Prep Wolfpack

The Evergreen Park Mustangs will be taking part in a tournament against the Saint Ignatius College Prep Wolfpack at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Evergreen Park's pitching crew has only allowed 3.2 runs per game this season, so Saint Ignatius College Prep's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

Evergreen Park is probably headed into the matchup with a chip on their shoulder considering Lemont just ended the team's seven-game winning streak on Thursday. They lost 10-0 to the Lemont HS. The game marked the first time this year in which the Mustangs were not able to get on the board.

Meanwhile, Saint Ignatius College Prep didn't have quite enough to beat St. Francis on Thursday and fell 9-8.

Evergreen Park's loss was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 7-1 and their overall record down to 12-3. As for Saint Ignatius College Prep, their defeat was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 4-1 and their overall record down to 10-2.

Evergreen Park skirted past Saint Ignatius College Prep 11-10 in their previous matchup back in April of 2025. Will the Mustangs repeat their success, or do the Wolfpack have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
