Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Irvington). They put the hurt on the Mission San Jose Warriors with a sharp 9-1 victory on Friday. The Vikings not only won on Friday, but they posted their biggest win since May 10, 2024.

Brayden Jaksa was a standout: he got on base in three of his five plate appearances with one triple, one run, and one RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Matthew Forbes, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-3.

The win made it two in a row for Irvington and bumps their season record up to 4-7. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 2 run in those games. As for Mission San Jose, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-9.

Coming up, Irvington is taking a road trip to take on Mt. Eden at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Mt. Eden will roll in looking for their fifth straight win, something Irvington surely won't give up without a fight. As for Mission San Jose, they will look to take advantage of their home field for the first time this season as they take on Newark Memorial at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Mission San Jose's pitchers better be ready for this one: Newark Memorial has averaged an impressive 6.6 runs per game this season.
