Baseball Recap: El Capitan Comes Up Short

El Capitan was the 20-4 winner over Joseph City when they last played one another last Thursday, but their luck changed this time around. The El Capitan Eagles fell just short of the Joseph City Wildcats by a score of 10-9 on Saturday. The game marked the Eagles' lowest-scoring match so far this season.

Kaden Timpson made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored three runs and stole Three bases. while going 1-for-3. The team also got some help courtesy of Riley Barlow, who scored two runs and stole Two bases. while going 2-for-3.

Even though they lost, El Capitan always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .536. That was just more of the same: they've now posted an OBP of .536 or higher every time they've taken the field this season.

El Capitan's loss dropped their record down to 4-2. As for Joseph City, the victory snapped their losing streak at eight games dating back to last season and leaves them with a 1-3 record.

El Capitan will have a little extra prep time after the defeat as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Water Canyon at 3:00 p.m. on March 19th. Joseph City also won't see the field for a while: their next contest is against St. Michael at 3:00 p.m. on March 18th.
