Volleyball Recap: Paloma Valley's Victory on Thursday Extends Winning Streak to Seven

Paloma Valley had won six straight games and Abigail Johnston did her part to make it seven on Thursday. The Wildcats came within a single set of losing the streak, but they secured a 3-2 W against the West Valley Mustangs for which the team can thank Johnston, who had 12 digs and two aces. She has been hot, having posted two or more aces the last five times she's played.

Paloma Valley was staring down a 2-1 deficit headed into the fourth set, but they rallied to take the next two for the win. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-18, 23-25, 16-25, 25-21, 15-5.

Paloma Valley was led to victory by Sophia Stoyer and Lauren Kendall. Stoyer had four aces and three digs, while Kendall had 16 digs, 15 kills, and three aces. Those three digs gave Stoyer a new career-high.

West Valley lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Sheiann Rosales, who had 25 digs and two aces. The team also got some help courtesy of Deonys Ioane, who had 13 digs and ten kills.

Paloma Valley's victory bumped their record up to 7-0. As for West Valley, they now have a losing record of 3-4.

Looking ahead, Paloma Valley will face off against Temescal Canyon at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. As for West Valley, they will challenge Liberty at 5:15 p.m. on Monday.
