Soccer Game Preview: Servite vs. Mater Dei

The Servite Friars will face off against the Mater Dei Monarchs at 3:15 p.m. on Friday.

Servite's defense heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Wednesday. They blew past Santa Margarita 3-0. The win continues a trend for Servite in their matchups with Santa Margarita: they've now won eight in a row.

Joaquin Martinez and Gregg Gonzalez scored all three of Servite's goals, bringing their combined season tally to 14 goals.

Meanwhile, Mater Dei faced Orange Lutheran in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Wednesday. Neither the Monarchs nor the Lancers could gain the upper hand so the two teams had to settle for a 1-1 draw.

With that draw, Mater Dei's record moves to 10-0-2. As for Servite, their victory bumped their record up to 9-5.
