Basketball Game Preview: Chaminade Eagles vs. Eagle Rock Eagles

Having just played yesterday, the Chaminade Eagles will head out on the road to face off against the Eagle Rock Eagles at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.

On Friday, Chaminade earned a 78-66 victory over Agoura. Given the Eagles' advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 33rd, while the Chargers are ranked 282nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Chaminade had a senior duo take command as Jonas Thurman went 13 for 22 on his way to 35 points and six rebounds and Koby Nichols posted 17 points and four steals. That makes it three consecutive games in which Thurman has scored at least a third of Chaminade's points. Andrew Cordero was another key player, putting up seven points along with six rebounds and three steals.

Chaminade smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive boards in three consecutive matches.

Meanwhile, Eagle Rock was able to grind out a solid win over Sylmar on Wednesday, taking the game 74-61.

The victory got Eagle Rock back to even at 4-4. As for Chaminade, their win bumped their record up to 10-2.
