Basketball Recap: Pontiac Comes Up Short

If Pontiac was feeling good fresh off their 42-6 takedown of Oakside Prep Academy two weeks ago, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Pontiac Phoenix were beaten by the River Rouge Panthers 48-18 on Wednesday. The Phoenix were not able to make up for their loss to the Panthers from their previous meeting back in February of 2024.

Despite the defeat, Pontiac saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Germani Hall posted 13 points. That was a full 72.2% of Pontiac's points, marking the third time in a row she's had more than a third of the team's points.

With the loss, Pontiac broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 5-4. As for River Rouge, the win got them back to even at 5-5.

Pontiac didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 56-13 victory against Oak Park on the 31st. As for River Rouge, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 52-40 defeat against Pershing on the 1st.
