Baseball Recap: Westview Comes Up Short

Westview fought the good fight in their extra-innings matchup against Jimtown on Tuesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Jimmies by a score of 4-3. The Warriors have struggled against the Jimmies recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive lost meeting.

Jack Massey spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered three runs (all of which were unearned) on three hits and racked up seven Ks. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up a single earned run in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Westview saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Elijah Zolman, who went 1-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

Westview's loss dropped their record down to 5-9. As for Jimtown, the win (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 12-4.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Westview will challenge Prairie Heights at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Jimtown, they will take on Bremen at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Jimmies' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Lions have averaged an impressive 9.3 runs per game this season.
