Basketball Game Preview: Murtaugh Red Devils vs. Hagerman Pirates

The Murtaugh Red Devils will take on the Hagerman Pirates at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The timing is sure in Murtaugh's favor as the team sits on nine straight wins at home while Hagerman has been banged up by four consecutive losses on the road.

On Monday, Murtaugh took their contest with ease, bagging a 59-24 win over Glenns Ferry.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Hagerman). Everything went their way against Sun Valley Community on Monday as they made off with an 82-59 victory.

Hagerman's win came from a few key players that Murtaugh will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Will Mavencamp, who dropped a double-double with 22 points and 17 boards. He has been hot for a while, having also posted two or more blocks the last 11 times he's played. Another player making a difference was Jace Leavitt, who went 6-for-13 to rack up 18 points along with seven assists and four steals.

Hagerman smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 16 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in ten consecutive matchups.

Murtaugh's win bumped their record up to 16-5. As for Hagerman, the victory got them back to even at 10-10.

Murtaugh didn't have too much breathing room in their game against Hagerman in their previous matchup back in January, but they still walked away with a 46-42 win. One of the biggest obstacles the team faced in that game was Mavencamp, who dropped a double-double with 20 points and 15 rebounds.
