Preview: Kennedy Cougars vs. Pleasant Valley Vikings
The Kennedy Cougars will be playing at home against the Pleasant Valley Vikings at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the pair will really light up the scoreboard.
Kennedy had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 5 points), and they went ahead and made it three on Tuesday. They took their matchup at home with ease, bagging a 81-33 win over Leroy Greene Academy. With Kennedy ahead 46-12 at the half, the game was all but over already.
Among those leading the charge was Dondre Prothro, who scored 17 points. The team also got some help courtesy of A. Young, who scored 11 points along with 3 steals.
Meanwhile, Pleasant Valley got the win against University Prep on Tuesday by a conclusive 66-46. The win made it back-to-back wins for Pleasant Valley.
Pleasant Valley had a senior duo take command as Cam Bussey scored 25 points and Jacob Martin scored 15 points along with 6 rebounds and 3 steals. The contest was Bussey's third in a row with at least ten points. Hayden Rick was another key contributor, scoring 9 points along with 3 steals.
Kennedy's win bumped their season record to 4-2 while Leroy Greene Academy's loss dropped theirs to 0-5.
Keep an eye on the arc in Thursday's matchup: Kennedy have made nailing deep shots look easy this year this season, having only averaged 4.5 threes per game. It's a different story for Pleasant Valley, though, as they've been averaging only 4.8 per game. Given Kennedy's sizeable advantage in that area, Pleasant Valley will need to find a way to close that gap. Check back here after the action for a full breakdown and analysis of the contest.
