Softball Recap: Kennedy Cougars vs. Westlake Warriors
After flying high against Verdugo Hills on Friday, Kennedy came back down to earth. The Cougars took a 13-9 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Westlake Warriors on Saturday. If the Cougars were looking for revenge after losing 7-0 to the Warriors when the teams met back in March of 2020, then they'll just have to keep looking.
Sarah Olague made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with one home run, five RBI, and two runs. That home run marked the first that she launched this season. Another player making a difference was Vivi Yanez, who scored two runs while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances.
Kennedy's defeat dropped their record down to 7-7. As for Westlake, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-7 record this season.
Coincidentally, Kennedy and Westlake will both be playing West the next time they take the field. The Cougars will head out to face the Warriors at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, while the Warriors will play them later in the day, at 1:00 p.m.
