Baseball Recap: Jim Thorpe Gets the Win

Jim Thorpe posted their closest win since May 1, 2024 on Saturday. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past the Palisades Pirates 2-1. The two-run effort marked the Olympians' lowest-scoring game of the season, but in the end it didn't matter.

Kaden Hess spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered a run (which was unearned) on one hit. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in strikeouts (four).

At the plate, Cole Lazorick was excellent, scoring a run and stealing three bases while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. Those three stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Brody Schrantz also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.

Jim Thorpe now has a winning record of 3-2. As for Palisades, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-3.

Coincidentally, Jim Thorpe and Palisades will both be playing Lehighton the next time they take the field. Palisades will host Lehighton at 4:00 p.m. on Monday, while Jim Thorpe will host them at 4:15 p.m. on Wednesday.
