Baseball Game Preview: Boise Brave vs. Eagle Mustangs

Boise hasn't had much luck against Eagle recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Brave will head out to take on the Mustangs at 6:30 p.m. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

Thursday just wasn't the day for Boise's offense. They came up short against Centennial on Thursday, falling 16-0. The match marked the first time this year in which the Brave were not able to get on the board.

Boise saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Michael Rodriguez, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with two stolen bases.

Meanwhile, Eagle fought the good fight in their extra-innings game against Timberline on Thursday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They took a 10-7 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Wolves. The pitching woes were uncharacteristic for the Mustangs, who until this contest were averaging 3.18 runs allowed.

Stephen Egan was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he struck out nine batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits (and not a single walk). He has been consistent : he hasn't given up more than one earned run in five consecutive appearances.

This is the second loss in a row for Eagle and nudges their season record down to 6-5. As for Boise, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 7-5.
