Baseball Preview: Granite Hills Eagles vs. El Capitan Vaqueros
The Granite Hills Eagles are taking a road trip to challenge the El Capitan Vaqueros at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Granite Hills is currently enjoying a perfect season and no doubt wants to keep things rolling.
Granite Hills barely beat Helix the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Eagles put the hurt on the Highlanders with a sharp 8-1 win on Thursday. With that victory, the Eagles brought their scoring average up to 6.2 runs per game.
The team relied heavily on Anthony Miotti, who scored two runs while going 2-for-3. The team also got some help courtesy of Parker Vance, who scored two runs while going 2-for-3.
Granite Hills was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .387. The last time their batting average was this high was back in May of 2024.
Meanwhile, El Capitan was able to grind out a solid win over Valhalla on Friday, taking the game 7-4. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Vaqueros.
Landon Harbach was excellent, scoring a run while going 3-for-3. That's the most hits he has posted since back in March. David Vera was another key player, scoring a run while going 2-for-3.
Granite Hills' record now sits at 10-0-2. As for El Capitan, the victory got them back to even at 7-7.
Granite Hills beat El Capitan 4-1 when the teams last played back in May of 2018. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Eagles since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
